White Denim - Fits

I have been listening to this album a lot, it reminds of Captain Beefheart with a bit of Arthur Lee madness thrown in for good measure.

Fresh....

You may have seen that there has been alot of talk about "Fresh" lately on this blog well, fresh is a compulation CD myself and Tommy Guns make from time to time. We dont sell it and normally it only gets passed to friends but its a good journal of our listening tastes of the time. Tommy Guns has already finished his but mine is yet to be started because my computertron has been broken for some time and therefore my itunes was out of action. However now the hampsters are running again and its time to impart my surf favorates on to disc. Expect some updates soon...

Fresh is complete

I've made a few tweaks...

Fresh Summer 2009

Making a fresh mix for the summer time! I went for a 60's vibe originally but it got a bit out of control.

This is Version 100000.0

(It's small for a reason...)

Keep it fresh

Tommy

We havent posted for a while because we have been training this guy...

Keeping it festive...

And you thaught christmas was for the family...

The Christmas Post

Wishing you all a good christmas from here at the fresh partnership.

Good tidings to you all!!!!!!!

P.s. His name is Father Christmas not Santa Claus! the guy who brings the presents i mean not the man in the photo above that is Mr T who's birthday we should also all celebrate.

Anthony Hamilton - modern soul man

A lot of artists are meant to have soul nowadays, Anthony Hamilton not only embodies soul, he exudes it. Already six albums in (his latest 'the point of it all' is released today), he blends vocals reminiscent of the Rev. Al Green with gritty hip hop beats. You need to check this cat out!

My Stallone List Part 1

Silvester Stallone, what a man!

Here is my list of his films that arnt rocky and rambo that you have to see....

Cobra (1986)

Super cop Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti  takes on some crazy masons who are trying to kill the Amazonian Brigitte Neilson, Stallone is so tough in this film that he uses scissors to cut pizza, I’m not joking

If you haven’t seen this film then check out this article from i-mockery Here

Over The Top (1987)

Trucker father and snobby son bond via the universal language of arm wrestling, check out what it’s all about here

Death Race 2000 (1975)

Even though David Carradine was the star of this flick, Stallone really shows that he is destined for playing a badass. Why they had to do a remake is lost on me!

Check out part 2 very soon....

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

Cool album, even though it does remind me of a Phil Collins album from the 80's.

Tommy's Fresh Record Club #2 John Mayer Trio - Try!

First things first, I love live records. Try! is my all time favourite live album, this was the moment John Mayer became a guitar hero and banished all previous perceptions people had of him as a musician. Backed by rock legends Pino Palladino (bass) and Steve Jordan (drums) the sound is no frills, raw, searing blues rock. Featuring a mix of original tunes, covers and re-workings of earlier Mayer songs.

Touring as the trio gave Mayer a fresh perspective and inspired the tracks that were soon to be heard on the awesome 'Continuum' record.

Check out this live record and then go grab 'Continuum', you won't be sorry!

Go and play

DINO RUN!!

I love this game, reminds me of the old school video games i love, simple fun and addictive

Go, Go play!

Tommy's Fresh Record Club #1Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

Maggot Brain, released July 1971 is considered by many as the seminal release from George Clinton's funk collective Funkadelic. I love this record for many reasons, the most obvious being the amazing guitar work of the late great Eddie Hazel. Legend has it that George Clinton told Hazel to play as if his mother had died on the title track, the feedback drenched results are truly stunning.

Each track on the record is wildly different and encompasses funk, hard rock, soul and elements of gospel. This is the sound of a band at their peak.

Check it out!

Neon Neon - Stainless Style

Bit late on this one... Have been listening to this record a lot. It's a collabo between Gruff Rhys of Super furry animals fame and producer Boom Bip. The album is loosely based on the story of De Lorean car inventor John De Lorean (read up on that one). Check it out, it straight up bangs!
